Grandstand Collapse Injures Dozens at Lavarack Barracks

Dozens of soldiers sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a temporary grandstand collapsed during a group photograph at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, north Queensland. The incident involved members of the 3rd Brigade.

Emergency Response

Following the collapse, several soldiers received treatment at the Lavarack Health Centre on base. Others were transported to local hospitals for further assessment and care.

The Queensland Ambulance Service dispatched 12 crews to the location, assessing approximately 40 individuals, primarily for cuts and abrasions.

Support and Investigation

Defence officials confirmed that support is being provided to the affected troops and their families. An investigation into the incident will be conducted.
