Market Reaction to AI in Logistics

Shares of several trucking and logistics companies declined on Thursday following concerns that new artificial intelligence tools could reduce major freight inefficiencies, sparking fears of decreased demand for industry services.

Algorhythm Holdings' new AI tool significantly contributed to market uncertainty, reflecting an ongoing trend where investors are evaluating traditional businesses against rapid AI advancements.

Key stock movements included:

  • C.H. Robinson: -14.5%
  • RXO: -20.5%
  • J.B. Hunt Transportation Services: -5%
  • XPO: -6%
  • Expeditors International of Washington: -13.2%

Baird analyst Daniel Moore noted an "emerging debate around open-source automation agents such as Molt Bot," which could automate back-office tasks and benefit smaller operators. Moore maintained his "outperform" ratings on C.H. Robinson and Expeditors, stating that automation is not a new concept. Meanwhile, shares of Algorhythm increased by 29.9%.

Algorhythm's SemiCab Platform

Algorhythm recently announced that its SemiCab platform, now deployed with live customers, enables operators to increase freight volumes by 300% to 400% without additional headcount. The platform reportedly reduces "empty freight miles" by more than 70% across customer networks.

The company cited data from Mordor Intelligence indicating that trucks drive empty for nearly one out of every three miles, resulting in over $1 trillion in annual freight spending losses.

"Managing freight as a coordinated network significantly improves utilization and fundamentally alters logistics economics."

Algorhythm previously focused on in-car karaoke systems, selling its Singing Machine business in 2025 before shifting its strategic focus entirely to the AI freight platform.

Regulatory Update

Separately, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced a ruling to prohibit "unqualified foreign drivers" from obtaining commercial truck and bus licenses. This measure aims to enhance safety by requiring consular and interagency screening for foreign drivers.
