Karate Combat Books Unique Grappling Match: Walker vs. Clark

Karate Combat has scheduled a unique openweight grappling match featuring UFC heavyweight Valter Walker against wrestler Zion Clark for an upcoming event in Miami. Clark was born with caudal regression syndrome, a condition that resulted in him having no legs.

The grappling contest is set for two intense 5-minute rounds, with an additional round to be held in case of a draw. The event will take place at the Telemundo Center in Miami, Florida.

The booking of this intriguing bout stems directly from social media discussions. Following Valter Walker's impressive streak of four consecutive first-round heel hook submissions in the UFC, online users began suggesting Zion Clark as a potential and challenging opponent. Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi observed the significant online interest and subsequently facilitated the arrangement of the match.

Valter Walker, known for his dominant heel hook submissions, has acknowledged the unique challenge of facing an opponent without feet. He recognizes the necessity of adapting his grappling strategy significantly for this encounter. Walker holds an impressive 15-1 MMA record, which includes five career submissions.

Zion Clark, who wrestled for Kent State University and previously secured an MMA bout victory in 2022, expressed strong confidence for the upcoming match. He has been rigorously training with heavier partners to prepare for his larger opponent.

Clark views the match as a pivotal opportunity to expand his options across various future combat sports, including potential grappling or wrestling contests against other UFC fighters, as well as MMA and boxing.

He has already been in discussions with the Real American Freestyle wrestling promotion and expressed keen interest in a match against Olympic medalist Thomas Gilman. Looking ahead, Clark is also aiming to book more MMA fights in 2026.
