Two boys, aged 12 and 13, were stabbed at Kingsbury High School in northwest London on Tuesday. Police were alerted at 12:40 PM local time regarding a stabbing incident at the comprehensive secondary school.
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody. Counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation.
Armed police arrived at the scene within 13 minutes of the call. The suspect left the scene after the attack and was later arrested. A weapon believed to be used in the stabbing was recovered, and authorities are not currently seeking additional individuals in connection with the incident.
Allegations Emerge Regarding Attack Details
Local media reports indicate the arrested boy, identified as a former pupil previously expelled for fighting, allegedly entered the school by climbing a wall. He is reported to have shouted "Allahu Akbar" while stabbing two students during a science lesson.
One boy was reportedly targeted for "revenge," and the other was stabbed after activating a fire alarm. Allegations also state the suspect wore his old school uniform and used pepper spray on children and a science teacher.
Victims' Condition and Ongoing Investigation
One victim sustained a neck injury, and the other a stomach injury. Both injured boys are in serious but stable condition in the hospital, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police have stated the incident has not been classified as a terrorist attack at this early stage, with investigators maintaining an open mind regarding motivation. The school initiated a lockdown, and pupils were kept in the playground. The event has prompted concerns among parents and pupils, with some advocating for the installation of metal detectors at school entrances. Kingsbury High School is an academy school serving students aged 11 to 18.
