Pearl Jam Navigates "In Between Eras" Following Drummer's Departure
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has commented on the band's status seven months after drummer Matt Cameron's departure. During an interview focused on his documentary "Matter of Time," Vedder offered insight into the group's current state.
Vedder described the group as "in between eras at the moment."
Drummer Position and Future Plans
Vedder did not directly confirm whether the band has found a new drummer, indicating that such an announcement would require a collective band discussion. He stated that he and other members are currently playing together and expressed enthusiasm for the band's future evolution.
Describing their current activity as being "in the lab" and "woodshedding," Vedder hints at new developments.
Matt Cameron's Departure
Matt Cameron, previously a member of Soundgarden, joined Pearl Jam in 1998. He contributed to all Pearl Jam studio albums from "Binaural" through "Dark Matter." Cameron announced his departure in July, following the band's spring arena tour.
He has since confirmed he remains an active musician and is working on a new Soundgarden album using recorded vocals by Chris Cornell.
Band's Drummer History
Pearl Jam has had five drummers since its formation in 1990. Cameron's 25-year tenure with the band was longer than that of all previous drummers combined.
