Their journey commenced in Gao, situated in northern Mali. From this starting point, their passage involved travel by wooden boat along the River Niger, proceeding downstream to Bamako. Subsequently, they continued their arduous route by bus from Bamako, directly to northern Ivory Coast, ultimately seeking safety.
