Perry and Alvarez Involved in Altercation at BKFC KnuckleMania VI

An altercation involving professional fighter Mike Perry, former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, and members of Alvarez's family occurred at BKFC KnuckleMania VI in Philadelphia. Video footage captured parts of the incident, which later prompted statements from both Perry and Alvarez regarding the circumstances.

Incident Details

The incident unfolded during the BKFC KnuckleMania VI event, with video footage surfacing on Tuesday depicting a physical altercation in the crowd. Those involved included Mike Perry, Eddie Alvarez, and members of Alvarez's family.

According to Mike Perry's account, the incident began when he was seated ringside and was bumped by Alvarez’s son’s girlfriend. This led to an exchange involving Perry, Alvarez’s son, and Alvarez’s wife. Perry stated that comments made by the son regarding his family were a significant factor in the escalation. Subsequently, Perry reported that Alvarez pushed him forcefully, causing him to fall. After Perry moved toward an individual, he fell to the ground a second time, where multiple people were observed striking him.

"Comments made by the son regarding his family were a factor in the escalation." - Mike Perry on the initial exchange.

Security personnel quickly intervened to separate those involved. A police officer later became involved, ultimately removing one individual from the scene.

Participant Statements

Both fighters addressed the incident publicly, offering their perspectives on the heated exchange.

Mike Perry

Mike Perry took to social media to address the incident, denying any intent to disrespect Alvarez’s family. He described the situation as "eventful," humorously referencing the floor being "slippery" and mentioning that he laughed after Alvarez’s wife reportedly fell. Perry also stated that he understood Alvarez’s actions, noting they appeared to be those of a father, and that he did not believe Alvarez was attempting to severely injure him. He further indicated that punches were not thrown until he was on the ground and confirmed he did not recognize everyone involved in striking him.

Eddie Alvarez

Eddie Alvarez commented on Instagram, asserting, "There’s way more to this story than you all know. This was my wife, kids and family fighting here with me." Alvarez made it clear he was "not sorry for this," stating it "was deserved and asked for." He further implied Perry would agree with this assessment.

"You can’t f*ck with someone’s family and expect shit to be cordial. If you knew the story, you would understand." - Eddie Alvarez's concluding remarks.

Alvarez's communication also indicated the confrontation arose from perceived disrespect toward his family. He concluded by stating, "I’m glad Mike’s OK and nobody got hurt."

UFC welterweight Phil Rowe also weighed in on the video via Instagram, criticizing Alvarez for the situation, noting, "Mike’s by himself …you’re in Philly with your people."
