Google Offers Voluntary Exit Packages to Select Business Organization Staff
Google's chief business officer, Philipp Schindler, announced on Tuesday that some employees within the global business organization (GBO) are eligible for voluntary exit packages. This initiative specifically targets staff in particular teams within the GBO in the US, encompassing those in solutions teams, sales, and corporate development.
Rationale for the Voluntary Exit Program
Schindler communicated that despite Google's strong position, the current business environment is dynamic. This dynamism necessitates that all GBO employees are fully engaged and actively leverage artificial intelligence (AI).
The voluntary exit program is intended for employees who may not be comfortable with the operational pace or are seeking to leave Google.
Exclusions from the Offer
It is important to note that roles within America's large customer sales teams and other customer-facing positions are excluded from this offer. This exclusion aims to minimize disruption to critical customer operations.
Precedent: Previous Google Buyout Offers
This recent action aligns with similar offers made by Google over the past year. In June, some US-based employees were presented with buyouts connected to new return-to-office policies. Later, in October, YouTube employees also received buyout offers during a period of organizational restructuring.
