FBI Bolsters Tucson Resources, Anticipates Tip Surge in Guthrie Disappearance Case

Federal officials are preparing for an anticipated large volume of tips following the release of video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s front door camera. Andrew McCabe, a former FBI deputy director, stated that the FBI deployed additional resources to the Tucson, Arizona, area prior to the video's release.

The released surveillance video depicts a masked individual tampering with cameras outside Guthrie's residence shortly before her disappearance.

These resources are intended to facilitate follow-up on information received from the public.

McCabe indicated that a significant number of calls are expected. Each tip will require agents to conduct interviews promptly. He also mentioned that hundreds of analysts are likely processing information and images related to the case received online and via phone.

This process involves substantial back-end work to convert tips and observations into actionable leads, even though many tips may not directly lead to a breakthrough in the investigation.
