View source

Justin Rose secured victory at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, finishing with a new tournament record score of 23 under par. The win marks his 13th PGA Tour title and his second at the Farmers Insurance Open, having previously won in 2019.

Rose led the tournament wire-to-wire, an achievement not seen at the event since 1955.

Tournament Overview and Rose's Performance

Justin Rose, 45, finished the tournament seven shots clear of the field at 23 under par. This score surpassed the previous tournament record of 22 under par, held by Tiger Woods (1999) and George Burns (1987). Rose's victory also makes him the oldest golfer to win at Torrey Pines and the oldest player to achieve a wire-to-wire victory on the PGA Tour since Rocco Mediate in October 2010.

Rose held a one-shot lead after an opening-round 62. He extended his lead to four shots after the second round, playing the South Course with an eagle, six birdies, and one bogey. His performance through 36 holes also set a new tournament record. Entering the final round on Torrey Pines' South Course with a six-shot lead, Rose completed the final 18 holes with a two-under-par 70. During the final round, he recorded birdies at the sixth, eighth, and ninth holes, with a single bogey at the 12th, extending his advantage to seven strokes by the turn.

This win represents Rose's second in his last eight starts, dating back to a championship last summer, and marks a victory in three of his last four PGA Tour seasons following a period without wins from 2020 to 2022.

Other Competitors

Pierceson Coody, Si Woo Kim, and Ryo Hisatsune finished tied for second place. Coody recorded the lowest round of the final day with a seven-under-par 65. American Jake Knapp and Germany's Stephan Jaeger finished one shot behind the tied second-place contenders.

  • Sahith Theegala (T7, -14): Achieved his 100th made cut on the PGA Tour.
  • Tony Finau (T11, -12): Registered an ace on the par-3 16th in the opening round.

Brooks Koepka's Return

Koepka, a five-time major winner, had secured a release from his LIV Golf contract. During the tournament, Koepka recorded a round of 73 on the South Course on Thursday and improved his score on the North Course with a second-round 68, including an eagle putt on the 17th hole. He is scheduled to compete in the WM Phoenix Open following this event.
