NASA Cold Atom Lab Team Recognized with Prestigious Honor Awards

Several members of the NASA Cold Atom Lab team were recently presented with prestigious NASA Honor Awards, recognizing their significant contributions to the mission.

The Cold Atom Laboratory is NASA's inaugural quantum laboratory in space.

Award Recipients and Achievements

  • Kamal Oudrhiri received the NASA Outstanding Public Leadership Medal for his exceptional leadership of the Cold Atom Laboratory, which is NASA's inaugural quantum laboratory in space.

  • Jason Williams was awarded the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal. This recognition is for his scientific achievements in enabling and performing the first pathfinding experiments in quantum sensing of inertial forces using atom interferometry in space.

  • Ethan Elliott earned the NASA Exceptional Public Achievement Medal for his work in generating the first quantum gas mixtures in space and subsequently demonstrating dual-species matter-wave interferometry for quantum tests.

  • Sarah Rees was honored with the NASA Early Career Achievement Medal. Her contributions include significant performance in anomaly recovery and complex operational efforts supporting the Cold Atom Laboratory aboard the International Space Station.
