Consensus 2026 NFL Free Agency Rankings Compiled and Analyzed

View source

A consensus board was created by averaging 14 different free agency rankings to assess the perception of the 2026 NFL free agency class.

The methodology involved averaging each player's ranking across all 14 lists. If a player was not listed on a specific board, they were assigned a ranking one spot below the lowest listed player on that board.

Some discrepancies were noted in individual rankings, such as Pro Football Focus listing Braden Smith (widely regarded as a top-20 free agent) at 105th and Quay Walker (a consensus top-40 player) at 139th. Cornerback Alontae Taylor, ranked 66th by this methodology, was not included in PFF's top-350 list.

Positional Analysis

Quarterbacks

Daniel Jones is ranked #5 overall, despite a torn Achilles. Malik Willis, ranked #15, is projected to earn the Packers a fourth- or fifth-round compensatory draft pick in 2027.

If Daniel Jones (#5) and Aaron Rodgers (#24) are retained by their current teams, Willis could become the top quarterback on the open market, prior to any potential Kirk Cousins release.

Running Backs

Breece Hall (#7), Kenneth Walker III (#12), and Travis Etienne Jr. (#19) lead the position.

The Packers are unlikely to target running backs this year given the probable return of Josh Jacobs, two restricted free agents on the 53-man roster, two practice squad backs with pedigree, and the coaching staff's reported interest in 2024 third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd.

Receivers

George Pickens (#1), Alec Pierce (#6), and Mike Evans (#11) are the top receivers. Romeo Doubs is ranked #27.

Alec Pierce's contract is anticipated to influence Christian Watson's market value, with Watson's extension potentially mirroring Pierce's deal if it occurs after Pierce signs.

Tight Ends

Kyle Pitts (#13) is the top-ranked tight end, with speculation that Atlanta may use a franchise tag. Other notable tight ends include Isaiah Likely (#39), Dallas Goedert (#44), and Travis Kelce (#45).

Offensive Tackles

Rasheed Walker (#8) is identified as the sole full-time starter seeking a second contract.

The scarcity at the position is expected to facilitate a contract worth $20.5 million per year or more for Walker, potentially earning the Packers a fourth-round compensatory draft pick.

Braden Smith is ranked #20.

Guards

David Edwards (#26), Isaac Seumalo (#28), and Alijah Vera-Tucker (#41) are top-ranked guards. More guards are available in the market compared to tackles or centers.

The Packers are not expected to be active at this position, having signed projected starters Aaron Banks and Anthony Belton to four-year contracts.

Ed Ingram (#60) had a pre-draft visit with the Packers following a prior suspension at LSU.

Centers

Tyler Linderbaum (#3) leads a limited center market. Connor McGovern (#25) is the second-ranked center. Sean Rhyan, ranked 202nd, just missed the top-200 cutoff.

Interior Defensive Linemen

John Franklin-Myers (#32) is the top-ranked interior defensive lineman.

The group is considered weak overall, with the second-ranked defensive tackle being a 39-year-old who played under 50% of defensive snaps last year.

Under-30 nose tackles for Green Bay include Roy Lopez (#173), Tom Settle (#181, recovering from foot surgery), and Khyiris Tonga (ranked low and only on two boards).

Edge Defenders

Trey Hendrickson (#2), Jaelan Phillips (#4), and Odafe Oweh (#14) are among the top edge rushers.

A high volume of edge rushers are expected to enter the market.

Green Bay's Kingsley Enagbare is ranked 25th in the position group. Bradley Chubb's ranking may not reflect his current market value due to his recent release by the Miami Dolphins and absence from most initial lists.

Off-Ball Linebackers

Devin Lloyd (#9) is anticipated to enter the open market and is viewed as the top player at the position following his performance in September 2025. Other key linebackers include Devin Bush (#33), Nakobe Dean (#36), and Quay Walker (#38).

Cornerbacks

Jaylen Watson (#10), Tariq Woolen (#17), and Jamel Dean (#18) are top cornerbacks.

The Packers typically target younger players in free agency; Watson and Woolen are identified as potential high-impact targets.

Former Packers Rasul Douglas (#74) and Eric Stokes (#75) are also on the list. Reports indicate the Packers inquired about Alontae Taylor (#65) and Cam Taylor-Britt (unlisted in top 200) around the trade deadline, but a price agreement was not reached.

Safeties

Bryan Cook (#22), Kamren Curl (#35), and Coby Bryant (#37) lead the safety rankings. Four of Green Bay's top five safeties are under contract for 2025.

While the safety position offers opportunities for spot starters, the Packers are not expected to pursue veterans who would primarily serve as backups to Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams, and Javon Bullard.
