Home Invasion and Assault in Clyde North

Police are investigating a violent home invasion in Melbourne's south-east, which they believe may be linked to other recent aggravated burglaries.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 23, at a residence on Yellowstone Avenue in Clyde North. Investigators state that two men arrived in a maroon four-door sedan, parking in nearby Aintree Close around 2:20 AM.

The offenders entered the garage of Rod and Annie Maureen's home, which was partially open, and confronted Rod, 58, threatening him with a firearm and demanding car keys.

After Rod refused, he was assaulted and lost consciousness. The offenders then moved to a bedroom where Annie-Maureen, 59, was asleep. They held her at gunpoint, again demanding keys to her Lexus vehicle.

The pair located a spare key near the front door. They stole Rod's wallet and a garage fob but were ultimately unable to steal the car, as it was fitted with a club lock. The suspects were last seen fleeing the scene in the maroon sedan, heading towards Patterson Road.

Rod was treated in hospital for minor injuries. Annie-Maureen did not sustain physical injuries.
