Arthur Smith Poised for Ohio State Offensive Coordinator Role
Arthur Smith is reportedly finalizing an agreement to become the offensive coordinator for Ohio State University's football team.
This move signifies his return to the college level.
The 42-year-old had previously been considered for head coaching positions with the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans, as well as another offensive coordinator role in the NFL. He will now join head coach Ryan Day's staff at Ohio State.
Recent NFL Tenure
Prior to this new role, Smith served as the head coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 2021 to 2023. During his three seasons, the team concluded each year with a 7-10 record.
His professional career largely involved coaching with the Tennessee Titans before his tenure with Atlanta.
Collegiate Coaching Background
Smith's coaching background includes prior experience in college football, beginning as a graduate assistant at North Carolina and later as a defensive intern/administrative assistant at Ole Miss in 2010.
At Ohio State, he will work alongside Matt Patricia, another former NFL head coach, who currently serves as Ohio State's defensive coordinator.
