UFC 324 Experiences Double Fight Cancellation
UFC 324 has experienced two fight cancellations ahead of its event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Lightweight Bout Pulled Amidst "Irregular Betting Patterns"
The lightweight preliminary bout between Alexander Hernandez and Michael Johnson was pulled from the fight card. While no specific reason was officially provided for the cancellation, certain sportsbooks, including BetOnline, noted "irregular betting patterns" for the matchup.
Dave Mason of BetOnline stated on Twitter that betting limits were lowered as a standard measure, not a judgment on the fight's integrity, but to protect both bettors and the house.
This incident follows a previous event involving Isaac Dulgarian, who was released from the UFC after a fight in November that also saw unusual betting line movement. UFC CEO Dana White reported that the FBI was contacted after Dulgarian's submission loss. Dulgarian remains suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission pending an ongoing investigation.
Health Scare Forces Bantamweight Bout Removal
The second cancellation involves the bantamweight contest between Cameron Smotherman and Ricky Turcios. This bout was removed after Smotherman collapsed on stage during Friday's official weigh-ins after making weight.
UFC 324 will proceed with 11 bouts following these changes.
