The Buffalo Bills interviewed Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo on Thursday. This makes him the third candidate to be interviewed by the Bills, following offensive coordinator Joe Brady and former Giants head coach Brian Daboll.
Anarumo has 36 years of coaching experience, including 13 years in the NFL. He completed his first season as the Colts' defensive coordinator in 2025, after serving six seasons in the same role for the Bengals. During his final season with the Bengals, his defense was ranked in the top 10 in the NFL for interceptions, interceptions returned for touchdowns, and passes defensed.
During his tenure with Indianapolis, the defense ranked in the top 10 league-wide for rushing yards allowed (seventh with 1,732), yards allowed per carry (tied for second with 3.9), and passing yards allowed (second with 4,462).
Anarumo was previously considered for head coaching positions with the Giants and Titans, who ultimately hired John Harbaugh and Robert Saleh, respectively. The Bills have also identified Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Commanders running backs coach/run game coordinator Anthony Lynn, and Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski as other potential candidates in their search to replace Sean McDermott.
