Sandfall Interactive Chooses Stable Growth Over Rapid Expansion Despite Game Success

View source

Sandfall Interactive, the developer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is resisting calls for significant expansion of its studio size, despite the game's recent success.

Creative director Guillaume Broche stated in an interview that he believes creative limitations are beneficial. He indicated that the team prefers direct involvement in game development over extensive management, aiming to maintain their current operational satisfaction.

Lead programmer Tom Guillermin added that the studio's current size fosters strong team dynamics, with all members being familiar with each other. He emphasized that the company's objective is to deliver quality games, and the existing team structure is considered optimal for this goal, rather than expanding for the sole purpose of growth.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 recently received the Game of the Year award at the 15th Annual New York Game Awards. The game has also secured eight nominations across nine categories at the 26th annual Game Developer Choice Awards and additional nominations at the upcoming 2026 DICE Awards.
