Embark Studios Rolls Out Major Updates for Arc Raiders

A series of substantial updates—including the "Flashpoint" patch and versions 1.12.0 and 1.15.0—have arrived for the extraction shooter Arc Raiders, bringing new maps, game modes, weapons, enemies, and a host of quality-of-life improvements.

New Map and Conditions

Riven Tides

A new map, "Riven Tides," has been added. This map features a condition called "Beachcombing," where players can search for buried treasure. A new enemy, the ARC Turbine, patrols the skies on this map.

Flashpoint Update (March 31)

The "Flashpoint" update, anticipated to go live on March 31, introduces a new map condition called "Close Scrutiny." This ARC Operation reduces general loot availability but offers high-value loot at ARC Assessors. A new Large Arc enemy is also planned for the upcoming "Riven Tides" update.

Bird City

Buried City now features a permanent map condition where flocks of birds build nests in chimneys, potentially storing valuable trinkets. This condition increases bird traps, ziplines, and player proximity on rooftops, and includes more flying ARC enemies.

Cold Snap

The "Cold Snap" map condition has been reintroduced to outdoor maps. This condition includes frostbite damage, requiring players to seek shelter, but offers increased loot value. Candleberries can be collected and snowballs thrown.

Events and Game Modes

Shared Watch Event

A PvE event called "Shared Watch" ran from February 10 to February 24. During this period, players earned merits by destroying, assisting, and damaging ARC machines. PvP encounters did not yield merits for this event.

Solo vs Squads Matchmaking

A new matchmaking option allows solo players at level 40 and above to join Squads queues. Players opting in receive a +20% bonus XP on round completion.

Last Resort Event

The "Last Resort Event" rewards players with merits for collecting specific ship models (e.g., "Wind Sprite," "Twilight Compass") and earning XP across all maps.

New Items, Weapons, and Equipment

Weapons

  • Canto: An SMG using Medium Ammo.
  • Dolabra: A Shotgun using Energy Ammo with variable focus for wide or tight electrical bursts.
