Sophie Turner is starring in the new Amazon Prime Video heist drama Steal, portraying Zara, a pension investment company employee. Her character, along with best friend Luke (Archie Madekwe), is compelled to follow the demands of a violent gang that invades their office.

Turner stated that her character is at a "rock bottom" point in her life, leading her to feel a sense of liberation that results in unconventional actions. She noted that this aspect of the role resonated with her experiences over the past few years, which included navigating a divorce from Joe Jonas and a legal dispute concerning child custody.

Before the heist, Turner's character is depicted as feeling her life is dull and directionless, leading her to seek excitement. Turner described the filming experience as immersive, recreating a City of London office environment for six weeks. She mentioned experiencing the feeling of having worked a corporate job and climbed the ladder by the end of production. Co-star Archie Madekwe also described the intensive filming in a hot office set.

Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, who plays a detective in the series, expressed his enjoyment of working on a contemporary show after appearing in many period productions. He found the office environment novel and relatable to his parents' generation.

The series, produced by Drama Republic, explores themes such as fairness of pay in financial industries and the challenges faced by individuals in their 20s and 30s. Madekwe highlighted the show's relatable narrative of feeling trapped in a "rat race" amidst the cost of living crisis, stating that many people experience financial pressures to some extent.
