The Supercars championship for the upcoming season will maintain its structure of a Sprint Cup, Endurance Cup, and Finals Series. Two notable changes have been implemented for the second iteration of this format.
Bonus Point Adjustments
Bonus points awarded ahead of the Adelaide Grand Final have been increased. The points leader at the conclusion of the Sandown Semi-Final will now receive 150 bonus points, an increase from the previous 50. Second place will get 120 points (up from 30), third will receive 96 points (up from 15), and fourth will be awarded 78 points (up from 0). This adjustment aligns the Adelaide bonus structure with those used for the Gold Coast and Sandown rounds.
Eliminated Driver Points
Another change affects drivers eliminated from the Finals Series. These drivers will now revert to the points they accumulated after the Bathurst 1000, plus any points earned in subsequent rounds. This modification allows drivers who did not qualify for the Finals to potentially surpass eliminated Finals drivers in the overall standings. Previously, eliminated Finals drivers could not finish higher than 11th due to a points reset ahead of the Finals rounds.
Unchanged Finals Format Elements
The remainder of the Finals format remains consistent. Winners of the Sprint Cup and Enduro Cup will still receive automatic entry into the first round of the Finals, along with 25 bonus points. The remaining 10 slots for the first Finals round are allocated based on championship points following the Bathurst 1000. Three drivers will be eliminated after both the Gold Coast 500 and Sandown 500 rounds, leaving four competitors to vie for the title at the Adelaide Grand Final.
