A dog named Woody recovered after undergoing a complex brain surgery at DoveLewis Animal Hospital in Portland.
Woody's family observed in August that he began exhibiting signs of imbalance, including stumbling on stairs and hesitating before jumps. His condition worsened, and the neurology department at the hospital identified a large bone tumor on his skull that was pressing against his brain.
Neurosurgeon Dr. John Du, who performed the operation, stated that a primary risk was the tumor's close proximity to several major blood vessels. The surgical removal procedure lasted approximately four to six hours.
Dr. Du also emphasized that successful post-operative recovery necessitates the combined efforts of multiple individuals, diligent monitoring, owner dedication, team support, and follow-up appointments.
DoveLewis Animal Hospital reported that Woody is now walking a mile each day following his recovery.
