Eleven players selected in inaugural AFLW pre-season draft

Eleven players were selected in the first Telstra AFLW Pre-Season Draft.

Here is a summary of each selection:

1. Gold Coast: Lily Quigley (Lions Academy/Giants Academy/Ainslie)
Lily Quigley, 159 cm, is a midfielder/small forward. She moved from NSW to Queensland and played as an overager in Brisbane's talent academy. Her cleanliness below the knees is noted as an asset.

2. Greater Western Sydney: Maisy Evans (Bond University)
Maisy Evans, 185 cm, is a forward/ruck option who can also play midfield. She was a train-on player with Gold Coast in 2024 and won the 2024 Riewoldt Family AFL Excellence Scholarship. She has a background in rugby sevens and school footy in Melbourne.

3. Essendon: Emma Dineen (Kerry, Ireland)
Emma Dineen, 25, is from Ireland. She has a basketball background and is described as composed, handy overhead, and able to think through congestion. She is expected to assist the outside transition game.

4. Western Bulldogs: Amaia Wain (Sydney Academy/UNSW-ES Bulldogs)
Amaia Wain is a ruck option who developed endurance as a high jumper. She previously traveled long distances to play footy in Sydney. She is noted for having a large vertical leap and speed.

5. Fremantle: Noa McNaughton (East Fremantle)
Noa McNaughton is a small forward who was overlooked in the 2024 AFLW draft. She averaged 20.6 disposals and kicked four goals for East Fremantle in recent WAFLW matches.

6. West Coast: Sienna Gerardi (Swan Districts)
Sienna Gerardi is a small forward. She previously balanced footy and basketball. Her addition is intended to provide depth to West Coast's small forward stocks.

7. St Kilda: Saoirse Lally (Mayo)
Saoirse Lally is a defender from Ireland. She is known for leadership, contest involvement, and lockdown abilities. She is not related to Fremantle's Orlagh Lally.

8. Hawthorn: Mikaylah Antony (Central District/Willaston)
Mikaylah Antony is a defender who provides run and carry. She has a netball background and reads play well to intercept. She was best on ground in a SANFLW vs VFLW match in April 2026.

9. Melbourne: Lauren Clifton (South Adelaide)
Lauren Clifton was part of South Adelaide's 2025 SANFLW premiership. She averages 14 disposals, 2.3 clearances, and 2.3 inside 50s for South Adelaide in 2026. She is noted for running capacity.

10. Greater Western Sydney: Sophia Gaukrodger (Giants Academy/UTS Bats)
Sophia Gaukrodger is a midfielder who improved her kicking. She is willing to bring physicality and can play at both ends of the ground.

11. West Coast: Lily Smart (Sturt)
Lily Smart is a winger with a background in long jump, having represented Australia in the Oceania Athletics Championships. She is known for running and taking the game on.
