Melbourne Park experienced significant wait times for entry, match access, and vendor services on the opening day of the Australian Open.
Tennis Australia chief executive Craig Tiley stated that event organizers were surprised by the high attendance, noting that ground passes sold out. He attributed the delays to more attendees than anticipated and a large number of people arriving concurrently.
Tiley recommended that fans book passes online and download them in advance, rather than purchasing them at the box office. He also advised attendees to prepare for security checks by having laptops out of bags and belts off to expedite entry processes.
