During a recent episode, Saturday Night Live (SNL) aired a pre-taped sketch titled "Heated Wizardry." The sketch parodied the successful gay hockey series "Heated Rivalry" by reimagining it within the Harry Potter universe.
Finn Wolfhard portrayed Harry Potter, and Ben Marshall played Ron Weasley. The sketch began with a voiceover announcing an upcoming HBO series based on the Harry Potter franchise, followed by the statement, "With an all new story hastily written after the success of a certain other HBO show…" The interaction between Harry and Ron in the sketch suggested a romantic dynamic.
"Heated Wizardry" depicted a quidditch rivalry between the two characters, paralleling the hockey rivalry of the original series, with a hidden romance element. Fake reviews for the sketch included a quote attributed to J.K. Rowling stating, "I am not a part of this."
Jason Momoa made a cameo appearance as Rubeus Hagrid, telling Harry, "You’re a homo, Harry," as the characters attempted to reveal their relationship.
Finn Wolfhard, making his SNL hosting debut, was joined by former "Stranger Things" co-stars Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo during his monologue. Wolfhard, 23, discussed growing up on the Netflix series and transitioning into adult roles.
The original "Heated Rivalry" series, which airs on Crave and HBO Max in the United States, follows two professional hockey players in a long-term situationship. Hudson Williams plays Canadian Shane Hollander of the fictional Montreal Metros, and Connor Storrie plays Russian-born Ilya Rozanov of the fictional Boston Raiders. The series has been renewed for a second season.
