Actor Jack O'Connell recently discussed his villainous role as Sir Jimmy Crystal in Nia DaCosta's film "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple," a sequel written by Alex Garland.
Crystal, a character O'Connell describes as the "maddest" he has portrayed, is a devil-worshipping, pseudo-evangelical cult leader. The character was first introduced in Danny Boyle's zombie sequel "28 Years Later." O'Connell also previously played an Irish-dancing vampire in Ryan Coogler's "Sinners." The purple tracksuit worn by Sir Jimmy Crystal in "The Bone Temple" was O'Connell's suggestion to give the character status.
O'Connell's upcoming projects include portraying former The Sun editor Larry Lamb in the biographical film "Ink," directed by Danny Boyle. He is also part of the MonsterVerse franchise, appearing in "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova," where he plays a character described as a "straight shooter" rather than a villain.
While O'Connell stated he enjoys the positive reception to his performances, he remains focused on future roles. He expressed that being an inspiration to other young actors, particularly those without industry connections, is one of the most rewarding aspects of his career. O'Connell confirmed that he kept the purple tracksuit from his Sir Jimmy Crystal role.
