Verizon Offers $20 Credit to Customers Following Widespread Outage

View source

Verizon has offered a $20 credit to customers following a widespread service outage on Wednesday. The outage generated over 1.5 million reports on Downdetector and affected services for several hours. This credit aims to acknowledge the impact on customers rather than provide full compensation for the disruption.

Redemption Process

Initially, Verizon instructed customers to redeem the credit through the myVerizon app. The company later expanded options, stating that the credit could also be claimed via customer service through phone or chat. As of January 16, customers began receiving text messages containing a direct link for redemption.

To redeem the $20 credit:

  • Log into your Verizon account.
  • Navigate to the "Account Overview" section.
  • Locate and click the "Take Action" or "Mobile Actions" button, typically marked with a red notification.
  • A pop-up will appear with credit details and a "Redeem Now" button.
  • Click "Redeem Now" to complete the process.

Verizon stated that the credit is expected to appear in customer accounts within one to two billing cycles. Customer feedback has included expressions of incredulity regarding the credit amount and the requirement for manual redemption.
