Identity Revealed: The 'Fedora Man' at the Louvre Heist Scene

Following the recent Louvre museum heist, which involved the theft of French crown jewels, a photograph of a young male wearing a fedora outside the museum gained significant online traction.

The individual captured in the viral image has now been identified as Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux, a 15-year-old resident of Rambouillet, located southwest of Paris.

Delvaux recounted that he had planned a family visit to the Louvre but found the museum closed due to the ongoing investigation into the heist. While he was inquiring about the closure with security personnel, an Associated Press photographer, documenting the security cordon, included him in a photograph.

Delvaux became aware of the photograph's widespread circulation approximately four days after it was taken. The image garnered millions of views across social media platforms, notably TikTok, and was featured in international publications such as The New York Times.

Regarding his distinctive attire, which included a waistcoat and a fedora, Delvaux stated that his fashion choices are influenced by 20th-century statesmen and fictional detectives. He confirmed that this style represents his regular daily wear, including for school.

Delvaux further indicated that he intentionally delayed revealing his identity for several weeks, citing a desire to prolong the 'mystery' surrounding the viral image.
