Daniel Stern is no longer part of the ABC comedy pilot "Do You Want Kids?", starring Rachel Bloom and Rory Scovel. The role of Freddy, the Zilbalodis family patriarch, will be recast by the network and producing studio, 20th Television.
This development follows a misdemeanor charge filed against Stern for engaging or agreeing to engage in prostitution. He was initially cited by Ventura County (CA) sheriff’s deputies on December 10 for allegedly soliciting a prostitute at a Camarillo hotel.
Stern's arraignment, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been continued to February 6. A conviction could result in up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The single-camera pilot "Do You Want Kids?" explores the altered lives of a married couple, Rosie (Bloom) and Alex Zilbalodis (Scovel), based on their decision to have or not have a baby.
Trent O’Donnell is directing the pilot, which Rachel Bloom co-wrote with Dan Gregor. The trio executive produce alongside Steven Levitan, Danielle Stokdyk, and Jeff Morton.
