Finn Allen's first Big Bash League (BBL) century guided the Perth Scorchers to a 50-run victory over the Melbourne Renegades, securing their spot in the finals.
Batting first at Docklands Stadium, the Scorchers posted 7-219. Allen scored 101 runs from 53 balls, including eight sixes and five fours. His century, achieved in 51 balls, was the second-fastest in Scorchers franchise history.
The Renegades' chase saw Jake Fraser-McGurk contribute 42 runs from 18 balls and Tim Seifert add 66 runs from 43 balls, but they ultimately reached 7-169.
During his innings, Allen received two lifelines, being dropped on eight and then again on 37. Sam Elliott was the most effective bowler for the Renegades, taking 4-28 from three overs.
Several player incidents occurred during the match: Finn Allen experienced hamstring cramps and did not field in the second innings. Mitch Marsh also sat out after being hit on the heel, but is anticipated to play in the upcoming match. Renegades batter Harry Dixon was taken to hospital as a precaution after being hit in the neck by a bouncer.
Prior to the match, AJ Tye, a former Scorchers player and current Renegades squad member, announced his retirement from the BBL. Tye, who has won four titles with the Scorchers, concludes his BBL career as the competition's second-highest wicket-taker with 162 dismissals.
The Scorchers (6-3) are scheduled to host the Melbourne Stars (6-3) on Saturday in a match that will determine a top-two position.
