Incident Overview
Velvet Pesu, a 46-year-old Brisbane artist, performer, and carer, was found deceased at a residence in Buccan, a Logan suburb south of Brisbane, on Monday morning. Her family reported her missing at approximately 1:00 AM, and her body was discovered around 3:15 AM during a police welfare check.
Circumstances of Discovery
Police reported that Ms. Pesu had sustained injuries. No other individuals were present at the property when her body was found. Ms. Pesu was reportedly caring for Wael Abdallah Saleem Alfar, a 36-year-old resident of the Buccan property.
Connected Individual's Arrest
Later on Monday afternoon, Mr. Alfar was involved in a high-speed police chase in New South Wales. He was subsequently arrested and is facing unrelated charges in NSW, including police pursuit and driving with a suspended license. Queensland Police traveled to NSW to speak with Mr. Alfar regarding the ongoing investigation into Ms. Pesu's death. He is scheduled to appear in an NSW court again.
