Melbourne will experience traffic disruptions over the next two nights as two superloads, each 55 meters long, are transported to Gippsland. The trucks will travel from Glen Waverley to Hazelwood North, carrying oversized loads.
Travel Schedule
- First Superload: Travels Wednesday and Thursday this week. Its original schedule for last weekend was delayed due to bushfires.
- Second Superload: Travels Sunday and Monday.
Disruptions are anticipated to be significant during night-time travel periods.
Route Information
The superloads, measuring 4.5 meters in width, will occupy the entirety of some roads during transit. They will travel at reduced speeds, up to 60 km/h on open roads and as low as 5 km/h over specific bridges or around corners.
Leg 1:
- From Glen Waverley, via EastLink.
- Continues along the Monash and Princes freeways from Rowville to Bunyip.
- Disruptions on this leg will begin from 11 PM.
Leg 2:
- From Bunyip, along the Princes Freeway to Hernes Oak.
- Exits the freeway via Marretts Road.
- Continues along Strezlecki Highway, Yinnar-Driffield Road, Yinnar Road, Brodribb Road, Monash Way, and Bonds Lane.
Motorist Advisory
The Department of Transport advises motorists to be patient and follow the instructions of traffic controllers escorting the loads. The public is asked to maintain a safe distance and avoid designated viewing opportunities for safety reasons, both when loads are in transit and when parked.
