A new spin-off series from the fantasy franchise, titled "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," has premiered. It features an inexperienced knight, Ser Duncan, and his squire. The series aims to blend dramatic elements with humor. This is the third series set in Westeros, the world created by novelist George R.R. Martin, following "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon.
Plot and Character Details
Ser Duncan, also known as Dunk, is the titular knight. He was previously mentioned in "Game of Thrones" as "Ser Duncan the Tall" in the Book of Brothers, which chronicles the deeds of the Kingsguards.
"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" serves as an origin story for Ser Duncan, taking place roughly two centuries after the events of "House of the Dragon" and before "Game of Thrones."
The first episode shows Ser Duncan, portrayed by Peter Claffey, burying Ser Arlan, a hedge knight he had served as squire. A hedge knight is an independent knight not pledged to a major house. Ser Arlan, despite limited possessions, followed chivalric ideals and influenced Ser Duncan's ambition to become a knight.
