Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple's own data centers are projected to commence construction and operation in 2027. This timeline may indicate that Apple anticipates significant growth in on-device AI demand starting in 2027.
Reports regarding Apple's intentions to develop AI-focused server-class chips have circulated for several years. The company's silicon team, which has contributed to the development of processors for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices, as well as in-house cellular modems (C1 and C1X) and wireless connectivity chip (N1), is now reportedly focusing on AI server chips.
Kuo's analysis specifies a 2026 mass production timeline for the chips, preceding the 2027 operational date for new data centers. It is expected that these chips will initially be deployed on a smaller scale within existing data centers once production begins.
