Kit Harington, known for his role as Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones," discussed his reaction to a 2019 petition that called for the final season of the series to be remade.
Speaking with The New York Times, Harington stated that the petition caused him anger. He described the petition's premise as a "level of idiocy that can only come about through social media."
The petition, which sought a remake with 'competent writers,' initially aimed for 15,000 signatures and ultimately received over 1.8 million.
Harington noted that he was in rehabilitation when the final season premiered. Upon his return, he became aware of the negative public response.
The eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" received criticism regarding creative decisions, character arcs, and production elements such as lighting and cinematography.
HBO CEO Casey Bloys previously stated that the network was aware of the petition but never seriously considered demands for a reboot.
