Jim Hartung, an assistant men's gymnastics coach for Nebraska Athletics, passed away on Saturday night at the age of 65.
Career Highlights
Hartung served as an assistant gymnastics coach for Nebraska for 19 seasons. As an athlete at Nebraska from 1979 to 1982, he achieved 22 All-America awards and seven NCAA individual titles, including NCAA all-around titles in 1981 and 1982. He also contributed to Nebraska's first four NCAA team titles from 1979 to 1982 and was the recipient of the Nissen-Emery Award in 1982.
Hartung was a two-time member of the United States Olympic team, where he contributed to the U.S. team's gold medal win at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.
He was inducted into the inaugural Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame class in 2015 and the first College Gymnastics Association Hall of Fame Class in 2024.

Hartung is survived by his four children: Jim, Nick, Jake, and Hannah.
