Owen Cooper Wins Golden Globe, Mentions Liverpool FC in Acceptance Speech

Teenage actor Owen Cooper, 16, from Warrington, received the Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Globe film and TV awards. During his acceptance speech, Cooper concluded with a reference to the Liverpool Football Club anthem, stating, "You'll never walk alone.""Standing here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through." He added that his acting journey began by taking a risk and attending drama classes, where he was the only boy, finding it initially embarrassing. Cooper also stated he is still an "apprentice," continuously learning from his peers. He ended his speech saying, "Bring on 2026. You'll never walk alone."In September, Cooper became the youngest male actor to win an Emmy award for his portrayal of a schoolboy accused of murder in a Netflix drama.His fellow actors from the same Netflix drama also received awards. Stephen Graham, a co-creator of the show, was named Best Actor in a TV mini-series, and Erin Doherty was named Best Supporting Actress. The 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony took place in California.
