SEPTA has reinstated Regional Rail morning express service and T-trolley routes operating through the Center City Trolley Tunnel. Both services resumed on Monday.
The Center City Trolley Tunnel reopened at 5 a.m. on Monday. It had been closed since mid-November for emergency repairs after a new component caused damage to the infrastructure. The tunnel serves thousands of passengers daily, connecting Center City with West Philadelphia.
The Regional Rail morning express service, which links suburban areas to Center City, also recommenced on Monday after a multi-month suspension. This resumption follows the gradual return of Silverliner IV rail cars to service by the transit agency, after federally mandated inspections prompted by several fire incidents.
SEPTA officials have stated that the Center City Trolley Tunnel will undergo overnight closures through February for additional repair work.
