Nigerian artists achieved multiple victories at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (Afrima), held in Lagos.
Burna Boy received the Album of the Year award for "No Sign of Weakness." He also shared the Best African Collaboration award with Shallipopi. Shallipopi separately won Song of the Year for "Laho."
Rema secured three awards: Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul.
Other Nigerian winners included Yemi Alade for Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary, and Phyno for Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop. Emerging talents Qing Madi and Chella were recognized as Most Promising Artiste of the Year and African Fans' Favourite, respectively.
Winners from other African nations included Senegal's Bakhaw Dioum (Song Writer of the Year), Algeria's DJ Moh Green (DJ of the Year), Ghana's Wendy Shay (Best Female Artiste in West Africa), South Africa's Nontokozo Mkhize (Best Female Artiste in Southern Africa), and Tanzania's Juma Jux (Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa).
The success of Nigerian artists at the event highlights the continued international growth and appeal of the Afrobeats genre.
