Max Hobson, a cattle farmer, has been identified as the person who died in the Longwood fire near Seymour in central Victoria. His death marks the first fatality linked to the state's ongoing bushfire disaster.
Victoria Police confirmed the death on Sunday. Mr. Hobson's remains were discovered approximately 100 meters from a vehicle off Yarck Road in Gobur, located north of Alexandra.
Mr. Hobson and his wife, Julie, operated Aintree Farm Herefords at Terip Terip, near Euroa.
A report concerning the incident will be prepared for the coroner.
