Firefighters responded to a house fire on Dorothy Street, Fawkner, approximately 10km north of Melbourne's CBD, shortly after 2:00 PM, following multiple emergency calls.
Upon arrival within six minutes, crews found a single-story brick house fully engulfed in flames. A person was rescued from inside.
CPR was performed on a three-year-old child, who subsequently died at the scene. A man was transported to The Northern Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
