David Letterman Criticizes CBS Leadership and News Direction

View source

David Letterman, former host of The Late Show on CBS, has voiced strong criticism regarding the current management of the network. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Letterman referred to those in charge as "idiots" and stated, "CBS News is a wreck. It’s just gone."

His remarks were made amid ongoing discussions about CBS' perceived shift towards conservative viewpoints and its ownership's stated support for U.S. President Donald Trump. Letterman contrasted the network's present state with the historical integrity of CBS News, specifically referencing Edward R. Murrow's reporting during World War II. He expressed that the original integrity of CBS News has been diminished by its current leadership.

Letterman also commended several other late-night hosts. He praised Jimmy Kimmel for his impact on network executives and for highlighting relevant issues. He also acknowledged Stephen Colbert, his successor on The Late Show, who CBS is reportedly letting go, and Seth Meyers.

Addressing the politicization of late-night television, Letterman asserted that Kimmel's criticisms are driven by behavior, not partisan politics, stating Kimmel would similarly challenge a Democratic president exhibiting comparable actions.
