San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The San Francisco 49ers played the Philadelphia Eagles in a wild card match-up. 49ers tight end George Kittle was removed from the field with a feared torn Achilles. Kittle had previously experienced hamstring and ankle injuries during the season. He signed a four-year, $76.4 million extension in April 2025.
Both teams had players absent from the game. Ricky Pearsall (49ers wide receiver) was out, and Lane Johnson (Eagles starting right tackle) was also unavailable. 49ers left tackle Trent Williams returned to the lineup.
The 49ers offense scored an early touchdown via Demarcus Robinson. The Eagles responded with a 29-yard run from Saquon Barkley, leading to a Dallas Goedert jet sweep touchdown. Kicker Jake Elliott missed the extra point, leaving the score 7-6 in San Francisco's favor. Goedert later scored a second touchdown, extending Philadelphia’s lead to 13-7.
Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Buffalo Bills defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-24 in a playoff game. This victory marked the first time in 33 years that the Bills won a playoff game in a season where they did not win the AFC East division.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen completed three touchdowns and accumulated 264 yards. He became the first player in NFL history to complete at least 80% of his passes (minimum five attempts) and rush for multiple touchdowns in a playoff game. Allen sustained injuries during the game, including a leg injury and a finger injury on his throwing hand.
The Jaguars' initial scoring drive included three large runs by rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten. Trevor Lawrence then connected with Brian Thomas Jr. for a touchdown, giving Jacksonville a 7-3 lead. Bills running back Ray Davis fumbled on the kick-off return, placing the Jaguars in scoring territory. A successful coach’s challenge by Sean McDermott resulted in a fourth-down stop, preventing Jacksonville from scoring. Allen then scored a touchdown after a 36-yard gain to Keon Coleman.
Jacksonville kicker Cam Little missed a field goal attempt. Both teams added field goals in the third quarter. Lawrence later threw a touchdown pass to Parker Washington, enabling Jacksonville to regain the lead. Allen then found Dalton Kincaid for a touchdown.
Jacksonville retook the lead as Travis Etienne broke a tackle after a pop pass from Lawrence. In the final seconds, Allen completed a long pass to Brandin Cooks, followed by additional completions and a successful fourth-down "tush-push" play. With the Bills one yard from the goal line and Jacksonville out of timeouts, Lawrence's pass to Jakobi Meyers was intercepted by Cole Bishop, securing the win for Buffalo.
The Bills will play the Broncos in the divisional round if the Patriots win against the Chargers. If L.A. wins, Buffalo will face the winner of the Steelers/Texans game.
Other wild card games on Sunday saw the Rams and Bears win against the Panthers and Packers, respectively.
