Mathys Tel Considers Tottenham Departure
Mathys Tel is reportedly considering an exit from Tottenham during the January transfer window. Tel joined Tottenham permanently in the summer, following a loan period in North London.
Reports from Fabrice Hawkins on January 9 indicate that the French attacker is dissatisfied with his current playing situation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and may seek a departure.
Playing Time Concerns
Tel scored in his last match for Tottenham, a 3-2 loss to Bournemouth. Manager Thomas Frank has started him in five Premier League matches, and he was initially excluded from the Champions League squad before replacing the injured Dominic Solanke.
Tel has accumulated 465 minutes in the Premier League, scoring three goals in those appearances. Reports suggest that Tel, formerly of Bayern Munich, desires more regular playing time to enhance his prospects of making France’s World Cup squad.
Tottenham's Stance
Tottenham is reportedly not inclined to approve a departure for Tel, whether permanent or on loan. Tel recorded 16 goals and seven assists in 83 appearances for Bayern Munich before joining Tottenham. The club's management faces the decision of whether to increase Tel's opportunities in the starting lineup to address his concerns.
