View source

Nielsen has released streaming viewership data for U.S. audiences watching on television sets for the weeks of December 8-14 and December 15-21, 2025. The reports detail the performance of various titles, with "Stranger Things" maintaining the top position in both periods. Notable figures include the debuts of "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery" and the second season of "Fallout," which saw its viewership impacted by a weekly release strategy compared to its first season's binge model.

Week of December 8-14, 2025

During the week of December 8-14, 2025, "Stranger Things" was the most-streamed title, accumulating 3.02 billion minutes of watch time. This brought its total viewership since its final season premiere in late November to 15.86 billion minutes.

Other top performers included:

  • Netflix's docuseries "Sean Combs: The Reckoning," which garnered 1.6 billion minutes.
  • Paramount+'s series "Landman," achieving 1.52 billion minutes.
  • The third Knives Out film, "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," which debuted with 1.31 billion minutes. This figure was lower than the 2.23 billion minutes recorded for "Glass Onion"'s opening week in 2022.

Noteworthy titles appearing in the rankings for the first time or reappearing included:

  • Apple TV's "Pluribus," which debuted with its seventh episode and drew 360 million minutes of viewing.
  • "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," returning to the rankings with 508 million minutes. Nielsen indicated that the first two episodes of its second season accounted for approximately 52 percent of this total, with the remainder attributed to viewing of the first season.
  • "Mayor of Kingstown," reappearing with 443 million minutes, marking its first inclusion since August 2024. The Paramount+ series concluded its fourth season in late December, with a fifth season announced as its final installment.

Week of December 15-21, 2025

In the subsequent week of December 15-21, "Stranger Things" continued as the No. 1 overall streamed title, recording 2.38 billion minutes of viewing. This represented a 21 percent decrease from the previous week. The first half of "Stranger Things'" final season was available during this period, with part two released on Christmas.

Paramount+'s "Landman" continued its growth for a fifth consecutive week, reaching 1.61 billion minutes of viewing. "Emily in Paris" re-entered the rankings with 831 million minutes following its fifth season premiere. "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery" topped the movie charts for a second week, registering 1.1 billion minutes of viewing, a 16 percent decrease from its opening week. "K-Pop Demon Hunters" exited the top 10 after 26 consecutive weeks, as holiday movies occupied most top 10 positions.

"Fallout" Season Two Premiere

The second season premiere of "Fallout" on Prime Video, which debuted on December 16, accumulated 794 million viewing minutes during this week. This figure was lower than the 2.9 billion minutes recorded for season one's opening week in April 2024, which had been the highest series premiere for Prime Video.

Nielsen attributed the difference in viewership between the seasons to varying release strategies. "Fallout" season one was released as a complete binge, whereas season two adopted a weekly release model, with only one episode released on December 16. The season two premiere accounted for approximately 54 percent (429 million minutes) of the total viewing minutes for "Fallout" during the week, with the remaining viewership originating from season one.
