A Perth business owner reported discovering black material inside a carton of Goodness Barista Almond Milk purchased from an Aldi supermarket in Success.
Lauren, who owns Lole Swim, found the object while preparing coffee. Initially believing it to be a slug, she later observed additional dark chunks after pouring milk down the drain. Upon cutting open the carton, she found a large black clump, which she and her husband concluded appeared to be mold.
Lauren expressed concern about consuming milk from the same carton the previous day, citing potential health risks associated with mold.
Aldi responded to Lauren's report, stating that issues with sealing integrity can occur during production or transportation. The company explained that compromised seals, which can be microscopic, allow oxygen to enter the product, leading to mold growth.
Lauren suggested that the product packaging should be redesigned to be more secure, questioning how consumers can identify unsafe products when packaging issues are not visible. PerthNow has sought comment from Aldi.
