Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has issued a statement regarding a recent shooting incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She characterized the event as "a public murder."
Ocasio-Cortez stated that the incident involved the shooting of a woman in the head during an attempt to flee, describing it as a "criminal murder." She further stated that the incident represented "a manifestation of every American’s worst nightmare."
In response to comments from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and other officials, who had described the individual involved as "weaponizing" her vehicle, Representative Ocasio-Cortez asserted that such remarks constituted "editorialising" of the event. She contended that these comments were intended to "justify a public murder." She concluded by encouraging individuals to "watch it for yourself and make that assessment" concerning the statements made by leaders.
