Multiple Game Updates Released for Minecraft: Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, and Hytale

Recent updates have been deployed across various gaming titles, bringing a wave of new content, gameplay enhancements, performance improvements, user interface adjustments, and numerous bug fixes across all platforms. These significant releases include multiple snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition, the 26.0 release for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, and Hytale's first major update.

Minecraft: Java Edition Snapshots

Recent snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition have introduced new features, technical changes, and bug fixes, with a focus on refining baby mob mechanics, improving performance, and streamlining core gameplay.

Gameplay and Visual Updates
  • Crafting: Name Tags can now be crafted using one Paper and one Metal Nugget (Copper, Iron, or Gold). A new item tag, #metal_nuggets, has been introduced for Copper, Iron, and Gold Nuggets.
  • Baby Mobs:
    • Updated models and textures have been implemented for baby Cows, Sheep, Pigs, Cats, Ocelots, Mooshrooms, Wolves, and Chickens.
    • Baby Rabbits received new animations and bounding box adjustments.
    • New sound events have been added for baby Wolves, Cats, and Pigs.
    • Baby Zombie, Husk, and Drowned models have had their head sizes reduced, including their updated textures.
    • Baby Striders now inherit warmth from Striders they stand on, and their bristles are animated.
    • Armor on baby Wolves and saddles on baby Pigs will no longer render visually.
  • Mob Behavior: Zombie Horses no longer panic when injured.
  • Particles: The Golden Dandelion now displays green particles moving downwards to indicate a mob's aging is being stopped, and green particles moving upwards to indicate aging is restarting. Two new particle types, pause_mob_growth and reset_mob_growth, have been added.
  • Armor Stands: Small Armor Stands now display correctly by scaling down adult armor.
  • Textures: A pixel gap in the Snifflet texture has been resolved.
Performance and Technical Changes
  • RAM Allocation: Default JVM options now allocate 4 GB of RAM, an increase from the previous 2 GB.
  • Garbage Collector: The garbage collection system has been switched from G1GC to ZGC for compatible devices. This change aims to provide a smoother gameplay experience, reduce stutters, and offer a more stable framerate, particularly during memory-intensive tasks.
  • Data Packs: The Data Pack version has been updated to 96, and subsequently to 99.3.
    • Wolf sound variants have been restructured with adult_sounds and baby_sounds fields.
    • New entity data fields (current_explosion_impact_pos and current_impulse_context_reset_grace_time) have been added to all mobs and the Armor Stand.
    • The ignore_fall_damage_from_current_explosion field has been removed from Players.
  • Resource Packs: The Resource Pack version has been updated to 77, and subsequently to 82.
    • Numerous new entity textures have been added for various baby mobs.
    • Existing entity textures have been renamed and moved to new directory structures.
  • Debug: A sound_cache debug entry has been added.
User Interface Improvements
  • Input Method Editor (IME): IME support has been improved, with the editor opening when text input gains focus and closing when it loses focus. IME input will also be canceled if no screens are open. The pre-edit display issue when using IME has been addressed.
Bug Fixes

A series of bugs have been addressed across the snapshots, including:

  • Zombie horses burning to death due to constant movement in and out of water (MC-302734).
  • Visual gaps on zombie nautilus heads (MC-304361).
  • Non-functional E value in the debug overlay's entity_render_stats (MC-304705).
  • Spears' charge animation having incorrect rotation speed (MC-304761).
  • Nautili spawned via breeding despawning (MC-305040).
  • Cross-platform CJK IME support issues (MC-91132).
  • Ability to use Riptide tridents while riding entities (MC-222949).
  • Ghost leash knot placement when attempting to leash a fence out of reach (MC-305369).
  • Seams appearing on cacti with higher resolution texture packs (MC-305471).
  • Rabbits receiving fall damage when jumping with a block above them (MC-305494).
  • Incorrect scaling of baby cat models (MC-305507).
  • Kittens repeatedly meowing when positioned in bed (MC-305579).
  • Worried pandas not shaking or hiding their faces during thunderstorms (MC-306276).
  • Offset riding positions for various baby mobs, causing them to float (MC-306300).
  • Baby mob legs clipping through worn armor (MC-306304).

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Update 26.0

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition has released version 26.0, marking the first use of a new numbering system for releases. The update introduces new features, content for testing, and numerous bug fixes.

New Features and Testing Content
  • Nautilus: Nautilus creatures now feature updated swimming animations.
  • Nether Portals: Nether Portals can once again be lit using lava.
  • Testing Content:
    • Players can try crafting name tags.
    • New redesigns for baby mobs are available for testing.
Gameplay and Interaction Improvements
  • Portals: A bug preventing Nether Portals from being lit with lava has been resolved.
  • Server Transfers: Cancelling server transfers no longer causes players to become softlocked.
  • Mob Hearts: Newly bred and mounted baby Horses, Mules, and Donkeys now display the correct number of hearts upon reaching full growth.
  • Hand-Swing Animation: Various interactions that previously did not trigger the player's hand-swing animation have been fixed. These include: leashing, bucketing, feeding various items (taming, aging, trusting, breeding, healing, bribing), attaching/removing Balloons, using a Name Tag, starting to ride a mob, making a mob sit, giving a mob an item, starting to trade with a mob, opening a mob's inventory, applying dye to a mob, interacting with an Armor Stand, Redstone Ore, Beehive, or Bee Nest, curing a Zombie Villager, shearing a mob, and milking a Cow or Mooshroom.
User Interface and Settings Fixes
  • Menus: The Escape key now correctly opens the game menu from the death screen. The Settings button on the Game Menu has been reverted to a text button.
  • Visuals: Ambient mob effects in the Mob Effects screen now display a blue outline. Shields no longer appear colored if placed in a slot that previously contained a colored shield. The incorrect panorama movement direction in the main menu has been fixed.
  • Text and Language: Misleading messages shown when attempting to sleep in a Bed have been corrected. Typographical errors and inconsistencies have been fixed in the Minecoins, Navigation, and Worlds sections of the Encyclopedia. Issues where text fields would receive focus upon mouse hover or become impossible to enter text into after losing focus have been addressed. Strings within Storage Settings now update when changing language. The description of the "Show player names" option in Ore UI Video Settings has been corrected.
  • Options: The "Only add/see trusted skins" option in Ore UI General Settings has been reverted to "Only Allow Trusted Skins," with its description removed. The graphics quality preset option under Vibrant Visual Options now changes to "Custom" after adjusting quality settings. The "Enter sleep mode when no inputs detected" option in Ore UI General Settings has been reverted to "Lower framerate when controller is disconnected," with its description removed. The "Extra large UI" option in Ore UI Video Settings no longer sets an incorrect GUI scale. The "recommended" value information for "Deferred render distance" option has been removed when Vibrant Visuals graphics mode is selected. Text-to-speech settings no longer incorrectly auto-enable after restarting the game.
  • Marketplace: Marketplace behavior packs will no longer be listed as a reason for achievements being disabled in new world creation.
  • Character: Incorrect character follow-cursor behavior in the inventory has been resolved.
Technical and World Management Fixes
  • Windows: Windows light and dark themes are now correctly supported for the title bar. Worlds with periods in their folder name on Windows will now correctly appear on the Play screen.
  • Resource Packs: Global resource packs now apply correctly after exiting the settings screen.
  • World Creation: The ability to change the world name in a new template world without unlocking settings has been restored.

Hytale's First Major Update

Hytale has released its first major update, introducing new content, quality-of-life improvements, and extensive fixes. The development team plans a rapid patching cadence for ongoing game enhancements.

World & Environment Updates
  • NPC Placement: Dinosaurs and other NPCs have been added to underground jungles, requiring new area generation to be visible.
  • Area Effects: Devastated Lands sewers now feature improved atmospheric effects and creature spawns. Areas beneath volcanoes now utilize appropriate volcanic environmental effects.
  • Structure Fixes: Fixes were implemented for entity placements, textures, and interiors in Feran villages. An invisible filler block in the Forgotten Temple was removed.
NPC & Creature Enhancements
  • Resistances: Knockback resistance has been added to previously lacking NPCs. Fire-themed NPCs are now immune to fire damage, though they still visibly catch fire. Skeletons no longer take drowning damage. Kweebecs are now immune to environmental damage from cactus and brambles.
  • Behavior: The Crystal Earth Golem's combat behavior and spin attack have been improved. Cautious wildlife predators, like the Fox, will only engage players if attacked. Livestock no longer climb on Chicken Coops.
  • Visuals & Loot: The Trork Shaman placeholder summon animation has been replaced. Proper loot tables have been added for Kweebecs and Trorks in the Whisperfrost Frontiers.
Crafting, Items & Farming Changes
  • Backpack: The base backpack now requires a Tier 1 Workbench (previously Tier 2) and its cost is reduced to 8 Medium Leather (from 16). The first backpack upgrade requires a Tier 2 Workbench (previously Tier 3).
  • Processing: Light, Medium, and Heavy Hide processing into Leather now takes 10 seconds less. Processing benches now display item tooltips in upgrade requirements.
  • Crafting Range: Crafting benches can now pull materials from chests within 14 blocks horizontally (up from 7) and 6 blocks vertically (up from 4).
  • Food: Raw fruits and vegetables now grant only Health Regen I; cooking provides additional benefits.
  • Item Handling: Dropped items no longer get stuck on block sides. Torches and handheld light sources can now be placed on the ground from the Utility Slot while wielding a pickaxe or hatchet. Pickaxes and hatchets are now swung only with the primary action.
  • Farming: Corn now yields 1 Essence Of Life (down from 4) when exchanged in the Farming Bench due to previous misconfiguration. Fully grown Cauliflower, Pumpkin, and Eternal Crops no longer drop regular or eternal seeds when broken.
  • Item Descriptions: Wood Logs now display their specific wood type (e.g., "Hardwood" for Oak Log). Crafting recipes requiring "Trunk" now correctly display "Log." Tooltips for specific Log Types (e.g., "Softwood Log") now list contributing trees (e.g., "Banyan, Beech and Aspen").
  • Furniture: The Woodcutter's Block is now a decorative furniture block, craftable in the Furniture Bench.
Audio & Visual Effects
  • Sounds: New hit and break sounds for stone and ores have been added, with layered effects for ores. Horses now play proper running sounds when mounted. The torch burn loop has been replaced with a softer ambient sound. Volumes for cocoon breaking, pig, piglet, and warthog sounds have been adjusted. Pitch variation on sword swings has been reduced.
  • Particles: New ore breaking and fruit eating particles have been added. A new particle effect appears above an NPC's head upon memory absorption. Updated health potion visual effects include new glitter, glow, and spiral particles.
  • Visual Fixes: Rope offset when held and hand positioning for various plants and foliage have been fixed.
UI, Performance & Quality of Life
  • Sleep: Players can now sleep starting at 7:30 PM.
  • Information: An information panel explaining the Memories system now appears upon first interaction with The Heart of Orbis.
  • Keybinds: Toggle Fullscreen, Switch HUD, and Take Screenshot can no longer be bound to mouse buttons.
  • Warnings: The game now warns when launching pre-release versions or opening worlds from different versions.
  • Field of View: Field of view while sprinting is limited to 160° to mitigate excessive visual distortion.
  • Server Connectivity: Cancelling LAN server discovery now functions correctly. The interaction system now handles server lag spikes more effectively.
Character Customization
  • Eyes: New eye types include Cat Eye, Demonic Eyes, Goat Eye, and Reptile Eye.
  • Mouths: New mouth options include Large Mouth and Tiny Lips.
  • Hair: A new hair color, Lavender, has been added. The Bangs hairstyle has been reworked, and the Dark Brown color brightened.
  • Cosmetics: The Featherbound Hood is now correctly displayed for Supporter edition owners.
Combat & Balance
  • Attacks: Weapon attacks now check for line of sight.
  • Damage: The regular Burn effect generally deals less damage; lava-applied burn remains unchanged. Cactus and brambles now deal Environmental damage.
Commands & Server
  • Commands: Argument order for teleport commands (/tp <player> <targetPlayer>) has been fixed. The give command now supports specifying item durability. Whitelist and ban commands support both online usernames and offline UUIDs.
  • Server Stability: The server now uses BBR congestion control for QUIC. Authentication and session token error handling have been improved.
Bug Fixes & Stability
  • Combat: Fixed a misconfiguration allowing weapon Charged Attacks to not consume Stamina when hotbar swapping. Fixed signature attacks being usable without signature energy.
  • Interactions: Fixed signature ready sound playing incorrectly in adventure mode. Fixed some items allowing longer interaction ranges than intended.
  • Environment: Fixed fluid flow behavior when stacking water sources. Fixed various crop growth issues, with chunks now saving when farming blocks update.
  • Crashes: Fixed crashes when using non-English screenshot folder names, selecting certain hairstyles, due to corrupt cached avatar previews, and when the memories plugin fails to load. Fixed a crash when updating the player model.
  • System: Fixed regular expression parsing in the /replace command. Fixed rewards from restoring memories being granted too early. Fixed "waiting for chunks" taking too long at view distances below 128. Fixed a localization loop affecting Norwegian language users. Fixed a race condition in instance teleport causing entity removal and re-add issues. Fixed session refresh for singleplayer servers.
