OnePlus Accused of Dodging EU Warranty Obligations
At least two users report receiving unusable €100 vouchers instead of replacement products under the mandatory two-year EU warranty.
Faulty Accessories, Voucher Offers
OnePlus is facing customer backlash after allegedly refusing to replace faulty accessories under warranty. Instead, the company is offering €100 vouchers—which recipients claim are effectively unusable.
Two separate Reddit users have come forward with similar complaints. DrSanchez87 sought a replacement for faulty OnePlus Buds Pro 2, while rubeck1s requested a replacement for a malfunctioning 120W SuperVOOC charger. In both cases, OnePlus offered a €100 voucher instead of a direct replacement.
"Unusable" Vouchers
Users report that the vouchers cannot be used for several reasons:
- OnePlus has minimal stock across product categories.
- Existing stock is already on sale, and the voucher cannot be combined with those discounts.
- The vouchers are online-only, with a one-month validity.
- They cannot be used for repairs or in physical stores.
One affected user stated they plan to file a complaint with the European Consumer Center (ECC) for deception and refusal to honor the warranty.
Company's European Retreat
Reports indicate OnePlus is winding down operations in Europe and directing customers to OPPO for new purchases. The company is also rumored to be clearing inventory in the US and UK, focusing on key markets like India and China.
OnePlus is expected to further integrate with OPPO, potentially eliminating the OxygenOS skin entirely.
