Longwood Bushfire Response and Conditions
The Longwood bushfire currently covers an area exceeding 3000 hectares. Response efforts involve over 400 firefighters and 100 fire appliances.
CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan characterized the prevailing conditions as 'catastrophic'. He defined these as the most dangerous fire conditions, where fires can rapidly take hold and spread, potentially impacting lives.
Heffernan additionally communicated that the fire's potential to spread under anticipated conditions would be rapid, leading to quick establishment of new fire fronts. Residents were advised to prepare for action and implement their bushfire survival plans.
