The collision took place at approximately 4:30 PM on the Murchison Highway, situated between Zeehan and Rosebery. A red Honda all-terrain vehicle (ATV), also referred to as a quad bike, carrying the two individuals, collided with a Mitsubishi Triton utility vehicle.

Casualties
Both the 16-year-old female and the 38-year-old male were pronounced deceased at the location of the collision. The 16-year-old has been identified as Adasyn Wood Savin from Newcastle, New South Wales. She was reportedly traveling in Tasmania for school holidays at the time of the incident. The identity of the 38-year-old male has not been publicly released.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Triton, a 40-year-old male, sustained no physical injuries. He underwent mandatory drug and alcohol testing as part of standard procedure.
